Kuwait has revoked or withdrawn the citizenship of 415 people through six decrees published in the official gazette Kuwait Alyoum, according to details released on October 4. Some of the decisions also extend to individuals who obtained Kuwaiti nationality through dependency on those named in the decrees.

84 People Covered by Two Latest Decrees

The two latest decisions, Decrees No. 159 and 160, account for 84 people in total.

Decree No. 159 lists 41 individuals, while Decree No. 160 covers another 43. Both measures state that citizenship withdrawal also applies to people who acquired Kuwaiti nationality through those individuals by dependency.

Decrees to Take Effect From Issuance

The decrees direct the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior to implement the decisions.

According to the published text, the measures take effect from their date of issuance and are to be published in the Official Gazette.

One of the decrees was issued at Al-Seif Palace on September 8, 2026, corresponding to 26 Rabi' Al-Awwal 1448 AH.

The decree bears the name of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah listed as Acting Prime Minister and Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah as Acting Minister of Interior.

The official decrees identify the people affected individually. Decree No. 155, for example, lists six people, while Decree No. 156 contains the largest group with 286 individuals.

Decrees No. 157, 158, 159 and 160 list the remaining affected individuals according to the respective citizenship decisions.
