Qatar Announces Official Public Holidays

His Highness the Emir has approved the Cabinet’s decision to set the dates for official public holidays in the State of Qatar and to regulate work during these periods.
According to the new decision, official holidays for ministries, government agencies, public institutions, and other entities will be as follows:

Eid Al-Fitr Holiday
The Eid Al-Fitr holiday will begin on the 28th of Ramadan and continue until the end of the 4th of Shawwal.

Eid Al-Adha Holiday
The Eid Al-Adha holiday will start on the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah and last until the end of the 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah.
National Day Holiday
Qatar’s National Day holiday will be observed on December 18.

Additional regulations clarify that if there is only one working day separating two official holidays, that day will be considered part of the holiday period. Furthermore, if official holidays overlap with weekends, those days will be counted as part of the holiday and will not be compensated with additional days.

The announcement was published in the Official Gazette on May 19, 2025, and is set to streamline the scheduling of public sector work and holidays throughout the year.
