The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation has announced the launch of the 2026 Gulf Club Super Cup, bringing together Iraq’s Duhok SC, winners of the first edition of the Gulf Club Champions League, and Qatar’s Al Rayyan SC, champions of the second edition of the competition.

The match will be held in the Iraqi city of Duhok on 13 August 2026, marking a new addition to the region’s football calendar and expanding Gulf club competitions.

The newly introduced Super Cup is seen as an important milestone in the development of regional tournaments and in strengthening their presence across the Gulf football landscape. The event is also expected to attract significant public interest and wide media coverage across the region.

On this occasion, Jassim Sultan Al Rumaihi, Secretary-General of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation, praised the organisational preparations made by Duhok SC to host the match, along with the club’s efforts to ensure the event is presented in a manner befitting Gulf football. He also commended the support provided by the Iraqi Football Association for hosting the fixture.

Al Rumaihi added: “We are pleased to see Gulf competitions reaching new levels. The organisation of the Gulf Super Cup represents a significant milestone in the development of football in the region and reflects the progress achieved over recent years at all levels.”
